Well we finally made it to the capital of WA. We felt a little daunted heading into the big smoke. We should not have. The road infrastucture is world class. And the public transport has to be the envy of all other state capitals.
Perth is long narrow city. It is 165km from north to south. The spine of the transport system is a six lane freeway with a double train line in the middle that runs the full 165km. The passenger trains run every 15 minuites all day long. Cost? $4.80 for an all day pass that covers trains, buses and ferries.
At the epicentre of Perth is it's lungs, Kings Park.
Kings Park also incorporates the West Australia Botanic Gardens.
A cornucopia of flora.
A kaleidoscope of the iconic Kangaroo Paw flowers...
So much for the natural world, let us have a look at the built environment...
The street art is extraordinary...
And just 5km away you could be sailing on the Indian Ocean
Or lazing on the white sandy beaches streching north and south along the coast to the horizon..
Or surfing...
And some birds were sighted...
And several Italian meals were enjoyed...
